Christmas Ride 2008 Baxenden
Pause Stop Previous Next View full-sized photos
My threats worked and everyone came to the Christmas Ride wearing some decorations so they were rewarded with a stirrup cup of mulled wine. The weather was kind to us, and the bean soup and mince pies (not together!) went down very well afterwards.

November 2008 - Long Causeway

Our November ride started off in fine weather although it was very windy.  It soon turned to rain and the wind kept up.  By the time we got back to the pub we were frozen.  The pie and peas and soup were very welcome, even if the fire wasn't warm enough to dry Amie's pants.

October 2008 - Blackshaw Head

Our October ride was from Blackshaw Head and the weather was fantastic - the last good day of the Autumn.  Pity there were only four of us to enjoy it.

September 2008 - Fisherman's Retreat

In September we had an incredible amount of rain so we rode from the Fisherman's Retreat and rode around Walmersley where the tracks were harder.  Bury Old Road is getting an increasingly amount of wash out but is still rideable.

July Evening ride - White Horse Helmshore

Our July evening ride started from the White Horse in Helmshore and took in Holcombe Moor returning via Moor Road.  Weather beautiful again.

July 2008 Around Cliviger
Pause Stop Previous Next View full-sized photos
Our July ride started from Cosi's yard on a warm sunny day.  We went around Cliviger with a slight detour making it a longer than usual ride.

July 2008 Whitworth Cycleway Opening
Pause Stop Previous Next View full-sized photos
FORBA was invited to attend the opening of the Whitworth Cycleway (open to riders and walkers too!) on 6 July.  The weather was appalling with heavy rain and thunder except for a brief window while they performed the opening ceremony.
Our June evening ride was from Stacksteads and again it rained!  So sorry - no pictures.
June 2008 - Feeder Route from Croft Top
Pause Stop Previous Next View full-sized photos
Our ride on 8 June was from Croft Top, and we took advantage of the new feeder route.  The cafe was shut by the time we got back so we pooled biscuits and made do!

Clowbridge May evening ride

Our first evening ride of the year was May from Clowbridge Res - a quick spin around Crown Point followed by tea at the Glory. No incidents this year (Dave remembers last year only too well!)

Settle May 2008
Pause Stop Previous Next View full-sized photos
Our May ride was a picnic ride from Settle to Malham.  We rode out via Stockdale Lane and had lunch by the beck at Malham, before returning to Settle via  Langscar. A beautiful day - sunny but not too hot.

13 April 2008 Chipping
Pause Stop Previous Next View full-sized photos
Our April ride was from Chipping, to see if we could ride Bridleway 10 without being harassed by the landowner.  We did, and have the pics to prove it!  Bob disgraced himself by eating a large picnic left on the ground - anyone remember the Yogi Bear cartoons - that's Bob!

March 2008 Todmorden Moor
Pause Stop Previous Next View full-sized photos
Our March ride was again from the Hare & Hounds in Todmorden, but we headed south this time on the Salt Way, skirting Inchfield Moor returning via Todmorden Moor.  The weather was kind again as although the wind was cold the rain held off until we were safely back in the pub.

10 February 2008 Barley
Pause Stop Previous Next View full-sized photos
Our February ride was the best day we have had since last summer - the air was crisp and the sky was blue - what more could we want? We had a brilliant ride round Barley spoilt slightly by the bad ground along the side of Pendle Hill.  We had been promised these boggy patches had been sorted, but obviously not.

              20 January 2008 Walmersley

Only one picture for January as I didn't risk my camera in the rain.  Last month we were brave and ventured out against all advice only to find the weather not bad at all.  This month we postponed in the face of severe weather warnings for the north west, and nothing happened on the 13th.  We opted for the following Sunday and had the wettest ride in memory.  Coupled with a lame pony we ended up being out for three and a half hours instead of two and a half!  Boy were we glad to get back to the pub!
