20 Sept 2007 Halo Launch
JavaScript must be enabled to view images.
Last year I was asked to provide some horses to head up the procession to launch the last Panoptican to be built - the Halo in Haslingden. I willingly agreed before finding out what an ordeal I was putting everyone through! ENORMOUS flags to ride past and dressing ourselves and horses up as angels! Ha - they don't know us very well! I was hoping to get some better pictures of us under the Halo in the dark, but our cameras failed miserably, so you'll just have to laugh at what I did get.

We nearly stayed at home the forecast was so bad but then realised they were talking about them "darn sarth" and "oop north" it weren't so bad. We encountered a bit of rain but were under trees at the time so didn't even get wet! We also got much better service this time in the White Horse where the food was excellent.
11 November 2007 Cowm Res

Our first ride this year in wintery weather was from the Donkey at Syke Common. Our route took us west of Brown Wardle, down the Doctor's Trail to Whitworth, around the concessionary bridleway at Cowm Reservoir and back via Healey Dell and the disused railway line. A welcome lunch was waiting for us in the pub thanks to Jane who ordered for us all.

The October ride was from the Hare & Hounds in Todmorden and we did 12 + miles around Stoodley Pike and had a huge turnout of 19 riders! Thanks to Helen for getting us across Todmorden centre.
Cobblers Sept 2007

Our September ride was from the Cobblers in Rawtenstall. Our route was Hall Carr, the new concessionary bridleway to Fall Barn, Edge Lane, Marl Pits, Hurst Lane, then the Mary Towneley Loop back to Waterfoot. We then returned to Rawtenstall via Cloughfold Railway line which was unexpectedly closed by the police behind the Tyre & Exhaust Centre.
The day was special as it was Dave's 50th birthday - he managed to complete the ride without complaining after 2 hard nights out on the tiles!
White Horse 23 August 2007

Our August Evening Ride was from the White Horse in Helmshore. We took a quick spin around Holcombe Moor and returned to the pub in time for an hours wait for our tea - we were not impressed!
Todmorden 12 Aug 2007

Our August Sunday ride was from the Hare & Hounds in Todmorden. We set off by using a bridleway that I hadn't ridden before, only to find it blocked by a parked car. Undeterred, we went another way and enjoyed a very scenic ride via Whirlaw Common, returning via Lower Moor.
